SIMPLE ITALIAN SAUCES
Fresh-made sauces are the perfect solution when you need something quick for family meals or last-minute dinner guests.
Few things fuel Chef Lauren Lane’s passion like her love of all things Italian, and, tonight, she’s eager to share her knowledge as she teaches essential culinary skills like whisking, basic knife skills, sautéing, baking with homemade crust, sauce making techniques/pasta pairings, custard tips, and more.
Chef Lauren will start our cooking class with a savory Crostata Appetizer. So good. Then it’s off to sauce heaven as she shows you how to whip up three fabulous Italian sauces – Pesto, Bolognese Ragu, and a fresh Primavera. Hey, here’s a fun fact….if you put these sauces side-by-side, they’d represent the colors of the Italian flag! Coincidence? I think not.
For the next part of tonight’s saucy lesson, Lauren will show you how each of these versatile gems are paired with the appropriate kinds of dried pasta (yep, it matters!), as well as other ways to use the sauces when preparing family meals, or for entertaining.
Last, but not least, get ready as Lauren shows you how to make one of her favorite desserts, the classic Italian Zabaglione. Sweet!
We learn best when we practice, so you’ll get your hands in on some of the cooking action tonight, plus, you’ll take home the recipes for everything you’ve learned so that you can easily recreate these gems at home. Salute!
