Tailgate Slow Cooker Sandwiches
I love that these tailgate slow cooker sandwiches can be assembled the night before and popped into the slow cooker before you head out.

Slow Cooker Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 Β½-2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 Β½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Β½ tablespoons poppy seeds
- 24 King's Hawaiian rolls, or if gluten free try Scharβs Ciabatta Rolls
- 1 pound thinly sliced cooked deli ham
- 1 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese,Gruyère, Provolone, Munster or Cheddar
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds. Separate the tops from bottoms of the rolls, and place the bottom pieces a piece of parchment or foil. Layer about half the cheese onto the rolls. Arrange the ham over the cheese, and top with the remaining cheese slices in a layer. Place the tops of the rolls onto the sandwiches. Brush the mustard mixture evenly over the rolls.
- If making multiple layers, repeat the process and add a piece of foil or parchment between each layer.
- Pick up the foil and place the sandwiches into the bottom of the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 1.5 to 2 hours, turning your insert halfway through if your slow cooker doesn't cook evenly.
- If desired and your insert is broiler safe, place your rolls on the lower rack in your oven with your broiler on high for 30-60 seconds to crisp up the tops. (Watch continually and do not walk away. You can go from perfection to burnt very quickly in a broiler.)
- Cut the sliders apart and serve
- Slice into individual sandwiches
Notes
Make-ahead: make this up the day before, covering with foil and refrigerating overnight. When ready, bake at 350 for 25 minutes with foil on, then uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes.
Oven cooking method: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven until the cheese has melted about 20 minutes. Uncover and cook for 5 more minutes
To make gluten-free, use gluten-free rolls. Try Schar's Ciabatta store-bought rolls.
