FAQs about Hot Honey

What is hot honey?

Hot honey is a delicious combination of honey and chili peppers, creating a sweet and spicy condiment that can be used in a variety of dishes. It's the perfect balance of flavors, adding a unique twist to your favorite recipes.

How to make hot honey?

It’s simple to make your own hot honey! Mix your favorite hot sauce with some hot honey and voila! You've got a spicy, sweet sauce that's perfect for dipping or drizzling. If you want to get fancy, you can make hot honey from scratch. Here’s a great homemade hot honey recipe:

Almost Homemade Hot Honey Recipe: Combine honey and your favorite hot sauce.

¼ cup honey + 2 teaspoons hot sauce (I like 1 teaspoon Cholula and 1 teaspoon Tabasco but use whatever you like.)

Home-Made Hot Honey Recipe- As spicy or as mild as you’d like:

Chili Peppers: You can use fresh hot peppers, dried hot peppers, or hot chili flakes. Choose any spicy chili peppers based on your heat preference.

Honey: Use your favorite brand. This recipe works with any type of honey.

Vinegar (Optional): I prefer apple cider vinegar for its tangy flavor. It’s optional, but it helps with longer shelf life.

How To Make Hot Honey

  1. Add the peppers and honey to a small saucepan or pot.

  2. Heat over medium-low and simmer for 1-2 minutes to infuse the honey with the pepper flavor and heat. You can simmer longer if you'd like. Just make sure not to let the honey boil.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vinegar (if using).

  4. If using fresh peppers, strain the honey into a jar through a fine mesh strainer. If using dried peppers, strain only if desired.

Enjoy your hot honey!

The Best Baked Salmon Recipe in the World!

Today, I’m sharing the best-baked salmon recipe in the world. And I’ve tried soooo many! This is my most requested dinner with my private chef clients! Anyone can do this, and it turns out that the easiest way is the best way. The art of cooking salmon to perfection is a skill worth boasting about. So, grab your apron, and let's get cooking!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to Broil
  2. Line a sheet pan with foil and spray with nonstick.
  3. Place salmon onto a foil-lined sheet pan. Fold under the thin part of the salmon file so it cooks evenly and no parts are overcooked.
  4. Sprinkle filets generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Depending on the thickness, broil on the top rack for approximately 6-15 minutes. And note: All ovens are different, Once you cook it to perfection in your oven, jot down how many minutes it took.
  6. PRO TIP: I use a thermometer and cook mine to exactly 125 degrees. But depending on how you like your salmon, you will want to see this chart below. A thermometer is the only way I can ensure the fish is COOKED PERFECTLY. I’ve been to the best restaurants and have had over-cooked salmon. Why? No thermometer.
  7. But keep an eye on it because all ovens are different. If salmon becomes well browned on top before it is cooked enough in the center, switch off the broiler and set the oven to 425°F (220°C), then continue cooking until done (this shouldn't take more than 1 to 2 minutes longer). Your salmon will emerge from the oven with a tantalizing golden crust that's sure to impress.

Notes

  • At 115° to 125°F your salmon is medium rare-midum.
  • At 125° to 140°F you are beginning to enter medium to well-done territory.
  • At 140°F and above, your salmon has reached its limit. From here on out, it's just going to get chalkier and dryer.

To Bake in foil instead of broil:

Preheat oven t400 degrees,

Bake for 5 to 7 minutes per half-inch thickness of salmon: Baking time depends on the thickness of your salmon, as determined by the thickest part of the salmon fillet. But all ovens are different so use a thermometer so you know when it reaches your desired temperature.
